Dimensions?

The scale of the furniture is similar to what you would see in a quality retail store. It's all full-size, and shaped as you'd expect. A link to dimensions is listed in the product description on each shopping page. Here are samples of our furniture dimensions.

How long does it take?

We deliver your custom sofa, sectional, couch, loveseat, or chair by UPS in 15 days. If you have a special request regarding the time line, give us a call.

Can we come to the factory to pick it up?

Yes, and it would be great to meet you! Some people even schedule time to look at fabric samples, place an order, and then wait for us to make their furniture! That's a fun event.

Shipping costs?

All the items-from ottomans to a large sectional sofa-are shipped by UPS in easy-to-manage package sizes. It is all ready-to-assemble, so not only is shipping economical, but the boxes can be moved conveniently through stairs, hallways, and other awkward areas.

Sales tax?

We only collect sales tax for shipments within the state of Indiana.

What does "ready to assemble" mean?

The items are delivered ready-to-assemble in conveniently-sized packages. After receiving the boxes, you will open them up, and then follow the included instructions to complete assembly.

All the wood parts are numbered for quick reference, and the photos and drawings show you exactly what to do. A screwdriver is the only necessary tool (a power screwdriver makes it go faster), and there is no gluing. The furniture is ready for use immediately.

When you provide the finished assembly for the furniture, you take advantage of the latest construction methods and save a lot of money without compromising quality. It's the perfect combination for online shoppers!

How much weight will it support?

People sometimes ask, "Since this is ready to assemble furniture, will it be creaky and flimsy and will the frame flex?"

Good question. Our frames are very rigid and solid. Our sofa will support more than 2,000 pounds. It is laboratory tested to prove its rigidity and ensure that the frames won't loosen or wobble.

What is it made of?

The frames are made from aspen wood which has been engineered into a panel called oriented strand board (OSB). This is the same material builders use on houses. It is much, much stronger than particleboard. We've had our products tested in a laboratory and everything carries a 10 Year Warranty. Very sturdy and solid, our sofa will support over 2,000 pounds.

Are you green?

We use all raw materials made in the USA, so we're able to oversee our entire supply chain. We actually know where all the supplies are coming from and can determine how they are being made.

Is it comfortable?

Our customers certainly think so (read their comments). We use 8-inch-thick seat cushions. That's a lot of padding, and our furniture is a great place for a nap! The cushions are so thick that when the furniture is brand new they will feel firm and require a little break in period. (More info)

Can I wash the fabrics?

Yes, if you select one of our washable patterns. If a fabric is washable, it is indicated in the fabric description. You can also sort the fabric selections by washability.

When washing, use a gentle setting and spin dry. Put the covers back on the furniture while they're still damp. Don't use the dryer.

What is "renewability"?

Furniture gets used hard. It looks good when new, but maintaining and replacing parts that are showing age is usually difficult. The Home Reserve story is different. Say, for instance, that the family dog attacks a seat cushion or arm. You can get the individual foam and fabric parts you will need to make it all look new again! We call it renewability. You may call it stress relief.

How long does it take to change cover sets?

For a sofa, it takes about 30 minutes to take the old fabrics off, and an hour to get the new ones fitted. It is a fun thing to do since the result is so rewarding. [see more on changeable fabrics]

Can I switch from one style to another?

Yes. After you've purchased Home Reserve, the style of your furniture can be converted to several other styles. [see this in smart features]

Switching to a new arm model creates a very different presentation. It is a fun change with a significant decorating effect. We send out the new arm kit and you make the simple conversion. Everything will be just as sturdy and solid as the original.

Can I reconfigure my sectional after I have it?

Yes. Sectional layouts can be expanded by adding additional units, and even made into freestanding sofas, loveseats, and chairs!

Can I take it apart if I move?

Definitely. Our ready-to-assemble furniture works both ways. Take it apart, put it back together again, and it will be just as strong and solid as ever. This is the furniture to have during a move!

Can I get Home Reserve in a store?

We operate exclusively for online shoppers, and do not sell through stores (although you are most certainly welcome to visit our factory and showroom!). We sell direct to our customers at wholesale prices. That is a comparable 50% savings. Our $299 sofas would sell for $500-$600 in a store. And except for Indiana residents, we don't collect sales tax.

Returns?

If you are not happy with your Home Reserve furniture for any reason, we will refund the price of the item. Shipping charges are nonrefundable. Just return the item to us in new, unused condition within 30 days of the date of purchase.

Save the original packaging for a while, just in case you decide to return an item. A vacuum will be needed to get the foam back into its box (We shrink-pack the foam in order to fit into a UPS-size box). Contact customer service for a return merchandise number and we'll also e-mail a repacking guide if you need it.

Do you ever have sales?

No, we don't. The price on the site is the lowest available. We never have any special promotions. It's always direct from our factory and you don't have to worry that there might be a better time to shop.

How do you get an entire sofa in two UPS-size boxes?

Half of that answer is that we ship our products ready-to-assemble. The other half is that we use a patented vacuum-shrink process to reduce the volume of the foam for shipping. It is a fascinating procedure and you can watch the video below to see how we do it (US Patent #6,267,446).

Do you scotchguard?

We don't, because it's much less expensive for you to do it yourself. Stores like Wal-Mart sell Scotchguard by the can. Just spray it on. It's the same material and process used by furniture stores.

What does the back of the sofa look like?

Do you ever stop carrying certain fabric patterns and colors?

Yes, that does happen. We are working with American fabric mills, but their practice is to cycle patterns as color trends change. We try to limit the occasions when we have to retire a fabric, because it can be frustrating to our customers who are adding units to their existing Home Reserve furniture collections. Sometimes there are fabrics in other patterns that can be matched to a retired color.

Do the sofas and sectionals have feet that keep the frames up off the floor?

Yes, here's a photo of one of the feet underneath a sofa. There are plastic caps on all the feet, and they suspend the frames 1 inch off the floor.
