| When people consider buying a sofa or loveseat they are wondering, “how well does the fabric wear?” It’s the same question our designers ask when they are making selections because we only offer patterns that are heavy duty and are going to last a long time. If they aren’t good quality fabrics we don’t offer them.
You can relax and choose whatever color you like and whatever price range works for you. They are all well made. Prices change on the furniture not because we use higher and lower quality fabrics, but only because some weaves and looks are more difficult for the mills to produce and therefor cost more.
Only our 100% cotton fabrics (which are clearly marked as 100% cotton), are somewhat lighter in weight. They will still give you a good many years wear, but are not as durable as our other patterns and are included for their decorative value because nothing “looks and feels like cotton.”
Home Reserve fabrics use the following fibers/fiber blends:
Nylon: The strongest of the synthetic fibers. It is resilient, soft, and easy to clean. It is also moderate in price with good dye-ability. Resilient, excellent abrasion resistance, some sunlight sensitivity, easy care and maintenance.
Olefin/Polypropylene: One of the more recently developed synthetic fibers. Moderate in price, this fiber is water resistant, virtually stain proof, resistant to chemicals. Excellent abrasion resistance, is somewhat heat sensitive.
Polyester:This fiber is added in blends to add dimensional stability. Strong, with a warm look, very wrinkle resistant, resists mildew, good sunlight resistance. Similar to wool in look and touch, but less expensive. Very durable and easy to clean off dirt and soil, although stains may be harder to remove.
Acrylic: Synthetic fiber famous for wool-like feel. Moderately priced and is mildew and stain resistant. It cleans well and is crush and fade resistant. Attractive hand, moderate abrasion resistance, excellent sunlight resistance, easy care.
Cotton: Cotton is a natural plant fiber that has been used for centuries. Cotton is a soft fiber that cleans well but has somewhat less durability than the synthetics. Dyes well, wrinkles easily, moderate abrasion resistance, moderate sunlight resistance. Easy to care for.
Cleaning Home Reserve fabrics: All our fabrics can be spot cleaned with mild soap and warm water. Only the Microfibres fabrics (if it’s a Microfibre it will be indicated in the fabric text) can be machine washed on a gentle setting, but don’t put them in the dryer. Just spin them dry and put them back on while they are still damp.
